Two well-deserved victories today as well as two clean sheets! First match against Cheeky Goals we won 3-0. First half was a little scrappy but we managed to dominate and string some good phases of play together. Outstanding opening volley goal from Chelsea which set the tone nicely. I have to also mention the defensive efforts in this game too.

Solid performance from left and right back from Jo and Humay! You guys held that line impeccably. Second gorgeous goal came from a string of good passes which forced a corner. Big up to Julia for her HW debut playing up front as striker who put a lovely header deep in the back of the net from a (technically perfect) corner taken very eloquently by Naomi. It seemed like we settled into the second half very nicely and bravely started playing out from the back.

Just when you thought we might finish 2-0, our Daisy curved a beautiful ball into the top left of the goal. The keeper got a hand to it but Daisy’s shot was too strong and it sailed beautifully into the back of the net. We love to see it! Scarlett and Steph were incredible in this match with consistent and most won one-on-one battles, good ball mastery in high pressure moments and cutting nicely through their defensive lines.

Second match was against Brockwell Bullets - who, to their credit - were a bit more organised than our first opponents and had some talented players. We beat them 2-0! We started strong with a few good chances. A couple off the bar from Chelsea and their keeper made some decent saves from on-target efforts on goal from Steph & Scar.

After some good direction and guidance from Coach Bení “calm down girls!” We seemed to get back in our stride, playing our football with a bit less panic and more composure on the ball. Karece scored a blinder in this game which was coming so a real testament to her perseverance to finally get her goal! It paid off! Another goal from our debut player Julia in this game too which came after some gritty midfield battles. Massive well done! Also want to say a bit well done to Zainab who also made her club centre mid debut and after settling down, had a really positive impact in the centre of the pitch by bravely driving through players and getting us into good scoring positions.

All in all, a great team effort from everyone and lovely to see 14+ squad strong so lots of options for subs. Sorry if I’ve missed anything here! Feel free to add any details I’ve missed or gotten wrong :)
