Hackney Wick FC produced a battling performance to secure a 2–1 victory away at Harwich and Parkeston in their longest trip of the season.
The Wickers were under pressure early on, with the hosts dominating the opening 20 minutes. But against the run of play, Hackney struck in the 36th minute as Alex Nicolaides rifled home from inside the box.
Moments later, the game turned on its head. Right-back Kyle Anderson was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge, leaving Hackney to play over half the match with 10 men.
Despite the setback, the visitors held firm to take a 1–0 lead into half-time, knowing a huge defensive effort would be needed after the break.
That resistance was finally broken in the 57th minute when Louis Bloom tapped in at the back post to level things up.
With momentum swinging towards the hosts, Hackney needed something special—and Nicolaides delivered. The forward struck a stunning 25-yard volley to restore the lead in spectacular fashion.
From there, it was all about resilience. The Wickers dug deep, throwing bodies on the line, with Dioni Elezi outstanding in a series of last-ditch defensive moments.
A huge three points on the road—and a performance full of character to match.
