Hackney Wick FC suffered a third straight defeat as they went down 2–1 away at Halstead Town, in a match defined by missed opportunities and costly errors.
The Wickers started brightly and could have taken control early on, but Issa Sidibe was unable to convert two good chances in the opening stages — moments that would prove crucial as the afternoon unfolded.

With a depleted squad — missing long-term absentee Ben Lewis-Gold and Mohammed Sebaihi, forcing a makeshift defensive setup — Hackney knew they would be in for a tough test.

Halstead capitalised in the 6th minute, working the ball well down the right before finishing from close range to make it 1–0.
Despite the setback, the contest remained evenly balanced, with both sides battling hard through midfield, but the hosts held their narrow advantage at the break.

The second goal arrived through confusion at the back. A cross into the box wasn’t dealt with, and with no defender attacking the ball, it crossed the line to double Halstead’s lead in unfortunate fashion.

Hackney pushed for a route back into the game and were handed a golden opportunity when Andre Anderson was awarded a penalty with ten minutes remaining. However, his effort crashed against the crossbar, summing up the Wickers’ afternoon.

Issa Sidibe did manage to pull one back deep into injury time, giving Hackney brief hope, but it proved too late to change the outcome.

Another frustrating afternoon for Hackney, who once again showed promising spells but were undone by lapses and missed chances. With three defeats on the bounce, the focus now turns to regrouping and restoring momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
