Hackney Wick FC produced another strong display of resilience as they came from behind to secure a 2–1 home victory over White Ensign FC, keeping their play-off ambitions firmly alive in the Essex Senior League.
Still without talisman Issa Sidibe, who remains sidelined following a head injury, the Wickers once again relied on the attacking influence of Adam Cheneti and Leo Pola — and it was Cheneti who proved crucial once more.
White Ensign started with purpose and were rewarded in the 21st minute when their captain Reece Latimer found space in the box and finished well to give the visitors a 1–0 lead.
Hackney responded with increased pressure but were unable to find a breakthrough before the interval, despite enjoying long spells on the ball.
Half-Time: Hackney Wick 0–1 White Ensign
The Wickers came out with renewed intent after the break and were finally rewarded in the 60th minute. A well-worked move ended with Adam Cheniti calmly slotting home to draw Hackney level and continue his excellent scoring form.
With momentum now fully on their side, Hackney pushed for a winner — and it arrived in the 83rd minute. Substitute Andre Anderson timed his run perfectly before finishing confidently to complete the comeback and secure all three points.
Another vital win for Ernest’s side as they continue to chase down the play-off places with growing belief and consistency at home.
