Saturday 27th September 2025 | Essex Senior League | Simarco Stadium
Hackney Wick FC’s recent struggles continued with a 2–1 home defeat to Soul Tower Hamlets FC, making it three losses in a row for Ernest’s side in the Essex Senior League.
The Wickers began brightly and could have taken control early on, with Issa Sidibe and Leo Pola both missing good chances inside the opening 20 minutes. Those missed opportunities proved costly.
Soul Tower Hamlets took the lead midway through the half when Ashaan Siddik finished neatly from a tight angle after breaking free down the right.
Hackney responded with more pressure but were hit by a hammer blow on the stroke of half-time. Sherman Artmeladze produced a moment of magic, bringing the ball down and curling a superb 25-yard strike into the top corner to make it 2–0 at the break.
Hackney came out determined after the restart and got themselves back into the game through Andre Anderson, who coolly slotted home to reduce the deficit.
The Wickers pushed hard for an equaliser and created chances, but both John Silva and Sidibe were guilty of spurning good opportunities late on. Despite their efforts, the hosts couldn’t find a way through, and the visitors held on for the points.
It was another frustrating afternoon for Hackney, who will feel they should have taken something from the game. With three defeats on the bounce, Ernest’s side will be eager to put things right next weekend in what promises to be another tough challenge away to Great Wakering Rovers.
