Hackney Wick FC secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over neighbours Ilford FC in a lively East London derby, with substitute Josh Olorunishola once again proving the difference from the bench.
The game carried added intrigue with Ilford now managed by former Wickers boss Chris Davis, and both sides were determined to make a statement.

Both teams approached the game with intensity, but chances were limited in a closely contested opening 45 minutes. With Hackney missing key players Max Grappy, Issa Sidibe, and Mohammed Sebaihi, the side showed resilience and discipline, keeping Ilford at bay while struggling themselves to truly test the home goalkeeper.

That breakthrough came in the 79th minute. A pinpoint cross from Leo Pola was met sweetly by 18-year-old Olorunishola, who unleashed a stunning volley into the net. It was his third goal in four games, continuing his remarkable impact as a super-sub in recent weeks.

Hackney managed the final stages well, holding on to claim all three points in a gritty derby win that lifts them to within a point of the play-off places.
