Hackney Wick FC continued their title charge with a commanding 5-1 victory over May & Baker FC, reducing Harlow Town’s lead at the top to just six points with two games in hand.
The visitors started brightly, with only a crucial goal-line clearance from captain Piotr Maslowski preventing an early setback. However, Hackney soon took control, and after a slick passing move, Issa Sidibie played in Adam Cheneti, who audaciously chipped the keeper with the outside of his boot to open the scoring.
David Woods then dazzled his defender before firing a shot that the goalkeeper spilled, allowing Sidibie to tap home from close range for Hackney’s second. May & Baker pulled one back from a corner, hammering in at the back post, but Hackney immediately restored their two-goal cushion as John Silva reacted quickest to a parried shot, finishing from a yard out.
Sidibie then took over in the second half, completing his hat-trick in style—first rounding the keeper after a brilliant through ball from Cheneti, and then smashing home his third from a pinpoint cross.
With two games in hand, Hackney Wick remain firmly in the title race, keeping the pressure on leaders Harlow Town as the season reaches a thrilling climax.
