MAY & BAKER 5-0 HACKNEY WICK

Hackney Wick suffered their joint-heaviest defeat of the season as May & Baker ran out 5-0 winners at Parkside.

The hosts took the lead after just 13 minutes, as Jack Ferris latched onto a through ball and clipped it over Wickers keeper Bartz Klimkiewicz.

Leo Pola had Hackney Wick's first chance of the game, but he fired over from range.

Minutes later, Leo came close again as he was played through by Adam Cheniti, but the hosts keeper Jack Riddell denied an equaliser.

HT: MAY & BAKER 1-0 HACKNEY WICK

It was a poor start to the second half for the Wickers as the hosts were awarded a penalty after Bartz clattered their attacker, earning himself a yellow card. The penalty was subsequently converted by Antony Connor to double his side's lead.

Substitute Josh Adeojo had a chance to halve the deficit just after the hour mark, but his half-volley from close range was held by Riddell.

And Bakers went down the other end and extended their lead, Idris Aminu rounding Bartz before finishing into the empty net.

The hosts had 4 on the 70th minute, Connor getting his brace as he curled a shot into the bottom right corner.

The rout was completed 5 minutes later as Aminu nabbed his second as well, curling a close-range effort round and over Bartz.

Josh was the first Wickers player to attempt to score a consolation goal, but his shot was well held by Riddell.

Hackney Wick's best chance of the game came through defender Ben Lewis-Gold, whose low drive was tipped round the post.

The evening was summed up in the 2nd minute of injury time as Marian Hristov failed to convert from 2 yards out, rounding off a miserable evening for the Wickers.

FT: MAY & BAKER 5-0 HACKNEY WICK

The heavy defeat sees the Wickers drop to 8th, still only 1 point off the playoff places but having played more matches than the surrounding teams.

May & Baker are 10th with 49 points from 38 matches.

NEXT MATCH:
Back at home on Easter Monday, as Harlow Town make the trip to the Simarco Stadium. They currently occupy 3rd position so it will be an extremely tough match, but Hackney Wick will be keen to take as many points as possible from the final 3 matches to end the season on a high.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS:
We've only ever faced the Hawks once before, back in January, and they ran out 4-1 winners. The Wickers' goalscorer that afternoon was Seb Mohammed.
