Hackney Wick FC to Release Remembrance Day Kit and Short Film Honouring Forgotten 1930s Football Team

London, UK – Release date: 11.11.2025

Hackney Wick FC will launch a powerful commemorative campaign this Remembrance Day (11th November 2025) to honour a piece of forgotten East London football history. The club has produced a short cinematic film titled “The Letter” and a limited-edition third kit inspired by a grassroots team from the 1930s whose existence was lost in time when the club disbanded during the Second World War.

A Story Lost in Time — Found Through a Letter
When Hackney Wick FC founder Bobby Kasanga started the club in 2015, he believed it was the first team to ever represent Hackney Wick. But that belief changed when an elderly gentleman reached out with a message — and a story. He revealed the existence of the Hackney team, now-forgotten local football club formed nearly a century ago. The team wore all-white kits and played across East London before the outbreak of the war in 1939 forced many players to enlist. Many never returned, and the club faded from memory.
Moved by this discovery, Hackney Wick FC created “The Letter”, a short film that recreates the story and its connection to the present day through football, memory and honour. The film follows the emotional journey of the man who wrote to the club, revealing a legacy that deserves to be remembered.

A Kit with Meaning
The new Hackney Wick FC 2025/26 third kit is a tribute to the original Wick FC colours — a clean and respectful all-white design, featuring:

A remembrance poppy on the chest
Subtle vertical heritage striping
The Hackney Wick FC crest redesigned in black

The words “Gone but never forgotten” hidden inside the collar

Limited edition

The kit represents football’s connection to history, sacrifice and community.
